The Race for Hope 5k is the Grant a Gift Autism Foundation’s second largest fundraiser of the year. Each spring, the race brings in tens of thousands of dollars from sponsors and runners from around southern Nevada. It is crucial to the foundation’s financial wellbeing. Going into 2020’s race, the Grant a Gift team realized that the race’s branding needed a refresh, and they needed to employ a few other tactics to encourage more runners to line up at the starting line. To start, we created a fresh new logo. Then we made a video that helped people understand the huge impact that running one 5k could have for those with autism in Las Vegas. But as all this was being developed, Covid hit. With stay-at-home orders in place, Grant a Gift had to turn their 5k from a real road race in Vegas into a virtual one that could be done anywhere. We quickly pivoted and helped Grant a Gift make their virtual race a huge success.
